Practice tests & mock exams

Free practice gives instant feedback on every answer. The full mock mirrors the real exam's length and timing.

How the practice works

A worked solution on every question
Not just the letter. Each answer opens into the full reasoning, so a wrong answer teaches you something instead of just costing a point.
Full-length mocks under the real clock
Each mock is drawn at random from a much larger pool, so you can sit it again and again and meet new questions each time.
You see which categories are weak
Accuracy is tracked per reporting category, and every question you miss lands in a wrong-answer notebook you can work through later.
Six months, re-take as often as you like
One purchase covers the whole prep window — practice, mock, review, repeat, at whatever pace the exam date allows.
Already took a free practice? Here's what your score means.
85%+ cold
You're likely ready for the official Algebra 2 Credit by Examination. Register with your counselor and take 1–2 full timed mocks to lock it in.
70–85%
Solid foundation, real prep needed. 4–6 weeks of timed mocks with AI explanations on every wrong answer.
Under 70%
Concept-level gaps. Start with the Concept Lessons below, then return to practice once the underlying topic clicks.

Passing-score thresholds vary by district (Texas state code: 80% for §28.023 acceleration, 70% for §74.24 prior-instruction credit). Confirm your specific district's threshold with your school counselor in writing.

Recommended prep

Students usually take Algebra 1 · Geometry before Algebra 2. You can still start here anytime — this is a study-order guide, not a requirement.

Algebra 2 CBE — Frequently asked questions

What topics are on the Algebra 2 CBE?

Algebra 2 covers TEKS §111.40 across two semester exams. Semester A works through problem solving, functions and transformations, quadratic functions with complex numbers, and square root, cube root, cubic and absolute value functions. Semester B covers exponential and logarithmic functions, rational functions, polynomial functions, and sequences, series and conic sections. Each semester exam is sampled across all of its reporting categories.

How hard is the Algebra 2 Credit by Exam?

Algebra 2 is a step up from Algebra 1 mostly in breadth: the same algebraic fluency now has to hold across many more function families, and the exam moves between them quickly. The students who struggle are usually not weak at algebra — they are slow at recognising which family a problem belongs to. That is exactly what timed mock exams train.

How long is the Algebra 2 CBE?

Each semester exam runs about 3 hours. Our mock exams use the same length and timing so your practice matches test-day conditions.

What is the passing score for Algebra 2 CBE?

It depends on which route you take. Under Texas Education Code §28.023 — the free district route used to accelerate past a course you have not taken — you need 80%. Under §74.24, the paid route through UT High School or Texas Tech K-12 for a course you have had instruction in, you need 70%. Confirm your specific district's threshold with your counselor in writing before you register.

Do I need a calculator for the Algebra 2 CBE?

Yes — a graphing calculator is permitted. Our practice questions are written for the same tools, so you rehearse with what you will actually have.

Should I take Algebra 2 before Pre-Calculus?

Normally yes: Pre-Calculus assumes the function families Algebra 2 builds, especially exponentials, logarithms and rational functions. Students accelerating toward Calculus often take the Algebra 2 CBE precisely to reach Pre-Calculus a year early. This is a study-order guide, not a rule — the CBE has no prerequisite.

I'm not in Texas — does Algebra 2 prep here still apply?

Yes. Polynomials, rational and radical functions, logarithms, sequences and conics are the same Algebra 2 taught in every state. Our questions are TEKS-aligned by origin, but the mathematics is universal.
